I melt with you. Modern English Vs Jason Mraz

Hoy os traemos a la memoria, un clásico de los año 80, titulado “I Melt with you”. Esta canción del grupo inglés Modern English fue grabada en el año 1982, y formó parte de  su segundo disco titulado “After The Snow”.

Todo apuntaba a que Modern English sería uno de los grupos que marcarían la pauta en la década de los 80. Tras el fulgurante éxito de este single, se establecieron en Estados Unidos, con vista a ampliar mercado. El caso es que las presiones de los productores dieron al traste con este proyecto tan prometedor, y el grupo fue diluyéndose poco a poco tras el éxito de un nuevo single titulado Pillow Lips, víctima de los abandonos de alguno de sus componentes, y del distanciamiento paulatino de otros.

Aquí os dejo la canción I Melt with you del álbum After The Snow. Recordar que es un auténtico clásico de los 80. Según la wikipedia, esta canción la catalogaron como la 39 dentro de las 100 mejores canciones de los años 80.

El caso, es que recorriendo algún foro de una de las estrellas del momento, Jason Mraz, me he encontrado por casualidad con una magnífica versión de esta canción, que muchos erróneamente atribuyen su autoría a este joven cantautor americano, cuando como he comentado anteriormente, pertenece a Modern English. La versión la realizó para la película 50 primeras citas, film protagonizado por Adam Sandler y Drew Barrymore.
